Mike FechterCredentials

Former Investigative Reporter at The Tampa Tribune

Biography

While working as a reporter with the “Tampa Tribune,” Michael Fechter reported on John Dean’s lawsuit against Len Colodny and Bob Gettlin over “Silent Coup.” He also covered the many trials and tribulations of “Silent Coup” from the John Dean lawsuit to the “Colodny Collection’s” brief stay at the University of South Florida (USF).

Fechter’s other investigations exposed numerous frauds, from a $500 million church-based Ponzi scheme, to a fabulist military contractor who claimed to have been one of the youngest CIA operatives ever.

He also uncovered connections between a University of South Florida affiliated think tank and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). The professor who created this think tank served on the terrorist group’s leadership council, and a former think tank director has run PIJ since 1996.

In 2007, Fechter became the Executive Editor for the “Investigative Project on Terrorism,” a non-profit research center focusing on terrorist groups and their sympathizers.
